A Des Moines woman who's lived in her home for nearly half a century feared she'd lose it because she could no longer take care of it.

That's when some good Samaritans stepped in.

Eighty-four-year-old Lola Armstrong got a letter from the city telling her she needed to clean up her home. Lola lives on her own and couldn't do the work herself.

The group 515 Riders came in to help. They raised $900 to spruce up her home.

On Sunday, volunteers raked the lawn, collected trash, and replaced the siding on her house.

“This is the most of my yard that I've seen in years. It's beautiful. It's just remarkable,” says Armstrong.

The 515 Riders will continue making improvements to Lola's home. They hope to repaint the inside of the home and replace the carpet.
