Des Moines detectives are following up on two overnight robberies.

They happened at two different stores just minutes apart.

Police were first called to the Walgreens at 2545 East Euclid at 12:15 a.m. Monday.

They say a white man, wearing a black stocking cap and a black jacket entered the store and demanded drugs from the pharmacist.

The man was given an undisclosed amount of pills and ran off.

Police say he did not show a weapon, but likely told employees he had one.

Detectives will look at security video from the store later this morning.

The second robbery happened just two minutes later at the Git-N-Go at 2911 Douglas Avenue.

Police say a black man, wearing a mask, entered the store, showed a handgun and demanded money.

He left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect ran westbound.

Detectives will also look at security video from that store later this morning.

This is the second time the Git-N-Go has been robbed in less than four months.

Police do not believe the two robberies are connected.
