The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is urging campers to make their reservations for the July 4th holiday soon before the spots are all snapped up.

A certain amount of campsites at state parks are able to be reserved ahead of time online, but there are also sites that are first-come first-serve.

Todd Coffelt with the Iowa DNR says, “Our parks have a lot of offer and no two parks are the same. If your favorite park has filled, give a different park a try.”

According to the DNR, as of Tuesday morning all the reservable sites with electricity have been spoken for at Clear Lake, Elinor Bedell, Emerson Bay, Gull Point, Lake Macbride, and Lewis and Clark.

Ledges and McIntosh Woods only have one handicap site available each for reservation.

I’m hoping to get the site next to the family with the sreaming kids, barking dogs and have the wonderful smell of them burning trash in their fire pit.Isn’t that kinda like spending a weekend in a trailer court?
