woody_jeff

Iowa State Cyclone football player Jeff Woody has some strong words for those people who watched and participated in the incident in Ames’ Campustown Tuesday night.

Woody wrote a blog post about the incident that happened during VEISHEA week, a celebration of the university’s colleges.

In the post he describes VEISHEA as being a “celebration of education and community” and talks about how the “rioters” don’t understand the purpose of the event.

Woody also wrote, “IF YOU WERE IN THE CROWD DURING THE RIOTS, YOU SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED AND ASHAMED OF YOURSELF.”

Woody posted a link to the blog on his Twitter account and the message is being shared widely.

In the mid-1970’s we little Grand View College students loved going to Ames for VEISHEA: free beer, free food, free sex, drugs and rock n roll. I’m too young to be considered a hippie, but not too old to remember a GOOD TIME!

    Way to speak out Woody.

  • Sad to see ISU in such a bad light

I don’t know much about VEISHEA. It is a shame that something that should bring pride to the school has brought shame instead.
I have had some contact with Jeff Woody, as have my children. He is a phenomenal young man.
