A southwest Iowa lawmaker who has been absent from the state Senate was back at the Capitol Wednesday.
On Monday, state Senator Hubert Houser said he was too busy working on his farm to take part in the legislative session.
He came back today and told the Secretary of the Senate he would pay back all the expense money he was paid while being absent. He hasn’t cast a vote since March 4th.
State senators are paid $25,000 a year.
The 71-year-old Republican has served 22-years in the Iowa legislature and is retiring after this year.
