VEISHEA WEEK: Some Events Still On

This is an archived article and the information in the article may be outdated. Please look at the time stamp on the story to see when it was last updated.

Though almost all of Iowa State University’s VEISHEA activities were canceled following violence in Ames’ Campustown area Tuesday night, some events are still occurring.

Among the casualties are the parade, concert, food vendors and VEISHEA Village. The Stars Over VEISHEA musical “Into the Woods” was dropped, as well as the popular cherry pie sale and pancake breakfast.

There are some activities still on the slate. The ISU Alumni Association and ISU Foundation’s Distinguished Awards Ceremony scheduled for Friday afternoon, as well as the Cyclone football team’s spring game Saturday afternoon are still planned.

Live at VEISHEA concert tickets will be refunded.

  • Cake man can

How about letting me make funnel cakes for The ISU Alumni Association and ISU Foundation’s Distinguished Awards Ceremony?
I have some corn dogs also.

  • Wes Essex

How about not canceling a musical that is used as a teaching tool, yet allowing a stupid football game to continue……a game that encourages tail-gaiting….which has copious amounts of drinking….which is the cause of all of this in the first place.

    • Dana

So agree. Shocked to see a “sporting event” to take precedent over a family friendly event. NOT!!!!

  • Janet

Banning all drinkiing tail-gating would send a message to the students and the community that ISU will tolerate that behavior.

  • Dan

Football game should be cancelled since at least one of the players has been arrested. How many more participated? But of course the game will go on, sporting events always do. Just keep telling them to be “good boys” Rhoades.
