Des Moines police are investigating an early Friday morning shooting.

Police were called to an apartment building at 2805 30th Street just before 6:00 a.m. Twenty-seven-year-old Kazmond Mead told officers he was outside of the building when he heard a gunshot and felt a hot sensation on his neck.

A woman living in the apartment told police she knew he was shot, but didn’t see blood when he came inside, so she didn’t think it was a big deal.

Mead told officers he was shot around 2:00 a.m., but he passed out before he could call police. Paramedics took Mead to the hospital, his condition is not known.

Officers found two bullet holes in the building, but have not announced any suspects or arrests in the case.
