AMES CELEBRATION: Incidents Despite VEISHEA Cancellation

Ames Police said the warm spring weather led to many people coming out to Ames to Campustown.

Commander Geoff Huff reported no major incidents, however Friday evening was not without some drama. One woman was rescued from College Creek after a report of a woman face-down in the water.  She was treated and released from Mary Greeley Medical Center, and then arrested.

One person was stabbed in the leg, and taken by car to the hospital, one man was found down on West Street near Franklin in west Ames, the victim of an assault.

Many people came from out-of-town.

One man was arrested after climbing to the roof of the Welch Avenue Post Office. There were 185 calls for service, 47 people were arrested or cited.
