WARM & STORMY: Much Cooler Days Ahead

Temperatures are starting mild today in the 50s and 60s and will rise to the upper 70s. It will be nice mid-day in Central Iowa with partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will reach the upper 70s.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon and this evening. The most likely time for thunderstorms will be after 5 PM. A few storms may produce large hail or damaging winds. There is also an isolated tornado threat.

The rain doesn’t end there. More heavy rain is expected through the day on Sunday. It will start raining again after 7 AM on Sunday and continue all day. Rainfall amounts could reach 1 to 2″ in parts of the state. It will also be cooler. Highs will only be in the mid-50s on Sunday.

The weather stays cool this week with highs in the 40s and 50s.
