An Easter tradition in the metro is catering to a special group of kids. The Special Egg Event was held in West Des Moines Sunday afternoon.

Journey Church hosted the egg hunt which allows special needs children to hunt for eggs. For those who are blind, the eggs beeped and those in wheelchairs were given a magnetic pole to grab magnetic eggs. It's the second year for the event and parents say their kids wouldn't miss it.

“It makes her excited something normal in her life is always really awesome,” says Darcie Lewis.

More than 300 kids participated in the hunt while searching for more than 25,000 eggs. Organizers say they are already planning for next year’s event.
