Des Moines canine officers will soon be safer while on duty thanks to a pair of major donations in the last week.

On March 27th, DMACC’s veterinary tech club donated $1,450 to the police force. The money will be used to purchase a canine ballistic vest for DMPD canine officer, Titan.

Last week, Pleasant Hill resident Kenneth Withee and his daughter Ramona Schlenker donated $1,200 to the department. That money will be used to buy a vests for future K-9 officers.

Withee says he was inspired by the donation from the DMACC students so he did his best to match it.
