GOP DEBATE: Sponsor, Senate Candidates Pull Out

A Republican senate debate Wednesday night in Des Moines is now without its co-sponsor and two leading candidates in the race.

Grand View College Republicans are hosting the debate on their campus. Today the Polk County GOP withdrew its sponsorship from the event.

Chairman Will Rogers says he had too many unanswered questions about the event to allow the local party’s name to be involved.

Shortly after they pulled out of the event, State Senator Joni Ernst followed suit. Her campaign says she wasn’t comfortable with last minute changes or the fact that fellow candidate Mark Jacobs wasn’t attending.

Sam Clovis, Scott Schaben and Matt Whitaker are still scheduled to take part in the debate that starts at 6:30 p.m. at the school’s Krumm Business Center.

Free tickets can be reserved on the Grand View University College Republican’s Facebook page.

I guess this goes to show who the dedicated candidates really are. Good for the three who kept their commitment. Joni and Jacobs are just products of the establishment – Iowa doesn’t need a Senator like that. I hope the voters look past all of their ads, and take a good hard look at the candidates before deciding. I believe then they’ll see that Joni and Jacobs are the wrong people for the job.

Too bad about this. I really wanted to hear from the “one true conservative.” Too bad she’s too chicken that she’s afraid that title might be lost by trying to garner youth support at this debate. Oh well

Same tactics used by Republicans while Sarah Palin was running for VP. Its a old game called “hide the dummy”. Hey Joni ,,,,Bye Bye

This cut and running seems to be a page borrowed from the democrtas playbook, miss 65% of your votes in your present job so as not to be on record? Skip numerous debates so as not to be accountable, and rely on big bucks and insider endorsements to fool the voters. Jacobs and Ernst acting like democrats hiding from their constituents, whats the next step? Outright lying to us?

Would suggest people study and understand the connection between the Grand View Republicans and the Ron Paul leadership at RPI. Whatever they touch is tainted
