The Iowa Supreme Court has cleared the way for Tony Bisignano to run for the Iowa State Senate.

Ned Chiodo challenged Tony Bisignano’s candidacy. The state constitution bans anyone convicted of a so-called “infamous crime” from holding office. Chiodo says Bisignano’s OWI convictions qualified as an “infamous crime.”

The state Supreme Court affirmed a state panel and a district judge’s decisions.

Chiodo and Bisignano are running for a seat representing Des Moines’ south-side.
