Officials have released the name of a woman police say was shot to death by her husband in Cambridge.
Officials say an autopsy on 49-year-old Vallerie Cory was performed Tuesday and the State Medical Examiner’s Office says she died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Vallerie Cory’s body was discovered Monday night after Huxley police performed a welfare check at the Cambridge home she shared with her husband, 44-year-old Jeremy Cory. Officials say she hadn’t been seen since April 4th.
A gun and several shell casings were found near the body.
Officials say during their investigation Jeremy Cory told them his wife had been dead since April 11th. When investigators asked him what happened, Cory allegedly replied “It didn’t work out.”
Jeremy Cory has been charged with the first degree murder of his wife and is being held in the Story County Jail on a bond of $1 million.
