The VEISHEA task force begins its work Thursday night.

The group of nearly 20 people was put together after a mob scene erupted in Campustown in Ames on the Tuesday of VEISHEA week.

The crowd, including Iowa State students, performed acts of vandalism like flipping cars and pulling down light poles.

As a result, ISU President Steven Leath canceled the rest of the celebration. He also called on a task force to look into the future of VEISHEA. The first of nine meetings is Thursday night from 6:00 to 8:00 in the Memorial Union on campus.

The task force will provide its final recommendations on VEISHEA and its future to President Leath by the end of June.
