The Iowa Supreme Court has ruled to uphold Seth Techel’s bond.
The district court ordered a $750,000 cash-only bond in January. Techel’s attorney wanted it reduced so Techel could be released before his third trial, so they appealed it to the Iowa Supreme Court.
The high court agreed with the lower court and upheld the bond.
Techel is charged with first degree murder and non-consensual termination of a fetus in the shooting death of his pregnant wife in their Agency home in 2012.
Mistrials were declared in Techel’s first two trials after the juries were unable to reach a verdict.
A third trial is scheduled for July in Davenport.
