A program at a Des Moines high school helps students juggle the stresses of parenting while attending school.

Any Des Moines student can enroll their child in the Little Scarlets Early Learning Center at East High School.

The program educates young parents on everything from basic child care to juggling daily activities.

“We’re able to provide them the support that they need along for caring for the child but we’re caring for that parent as well,” daycare supervisor Rachelle Evans says.

The program accepts children from birth to two years. Financial aid is also offered.

Last year, enrollment was at capacity. This year, the numbers are down slightly.
