One person died in eastern Iowa during the severe weather over the weekend.

In Keokuk County strong winds uprooted trees, twisted metal, and scattered debris. The Sheriff’s Office says one person died in the storm and two more people were hurt.

Officials say a woman in Kinross died of a debris related injury. Her name has not been released.

One of the injured, from Martinsburg, is in critical condition.

Gary Sampson of Kinross says the storm threw parts of his fire pit into the neighbors’ yard. Across the street, metal siding was tossed over a hay stack and the roof of a storage shed was torn off.

Sampson says the storm could have been worse, “I thought wow at first. Then I thought at least it isn’t like the big tornado came through in the 80s.”
