Severe weather ripped across Iowa Sunday, leaving a mess for many people to clean up.

Rain soaked much of the state and even created some localized flooding. No major storm damage was reported in the Des Moines metro, but Oskaloosa was not as lucky.

It appears the southern Iowa town was hit hardest by the storm. That’s where the roof of a hospital building collapsed. The building is an out-patient clinic and not attached to the hospital itself.

Officials say they are fortunate this happened on a weekend.

“Oh no, no employees. It’s primarily a weekday office for the most part. None the less we’ll miss it tomorrow,” says Jay Christensen, Mahaska Health Partnership CEO.

The storm also knocked out power to the city, but that has been restored for most customers.
