Fire gutted a business in the north-central Iowa town of Jewell Tuesday night.

Five fire crews responded to the flames at 904 Main Street around 7:00 p.m. Trucks remained on the scene of the Hagen Welding building until around 3:00 Wednesday afternoon.

The business was closed at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

Officials believe it started in the attic but the cause remains under investigation. The Jewell fire chief says it does not appear suspicious.

He says the damage to the building and the contents inside is estimated at over $1 million.
