OWI CHARGES: Iowa, ISU Players Make Pleas

Two college basketball players charged with OWI made their respective pleas Friday.

Peter Jok is pleading guilty to drunk driving. The Hawkeye basketball player and former Valley Tiger was arrested on Saturday in Iowa City. Police pulled him over when he was spotted driving erratically.

The 20-year old entered a guilty plea Friday in Johnson County Court.

Jok’s attorney told the Iowa City Press-Citizen that his client is already working to complete court required punishments including alcohol counseling and paying his fine.

Jok has not been suspended from the Hawkeye basketball team.

Meanwhile, an Iowa State basketball player is fighting an OWI charge against him.

Abdel Nader was arrested last month in Ames. Online court records show he entered a written not guilty plea in Story County Court today.

A trial date was set for June 24th.

Nader transferred from Northern Illinois last year. He sat out this season but would be eligible to play next season.

He has been suspended indefinitely from the Cyclone team.
