A baby born at an Iowa hospital in April has been given up by his mother and declared a Safe Haven baby.

The baby boy was born April 15th and the mother immediately asked that he be made a safe haven baby.

The Safe Haven law allows parents to give up custody of infants 14 days or younger with no questions asked.

The child has been placed in the custody of the Iowa Department of Human Services and a hearing will be held within a month to terminate parental rights. After that, the child will likely be adopted, as all of the 17 previous safe haven babies have been.

I would never be able to do that but atl east she didn’t harm the baby like all these other parents have.

That is a very responsible girl, right there. She realized that she was in not in any position to take care of a baby and someone else who really can will now be able to adopt him. I pray for her to have her own baby one day when she is older and able to.

I cant imagine how hard that was for the mother, but I will give nothing but pure repect to her. Knowing, for whatever reason, would be a better fit for her and the baby. God bless that baby and may he find a wonderful loving home. And God bless that mother for her dession.
