A baby born at an Iowa hospital in April has been given up by his mother and declared a Safe Haven baby.
The baby boy was born April 15th and the mother immediately asked that he be made a safe haven baby.
The Safe Haven law allows parents to give up custody of infants 14 days or younger with no questions asked.
The child has been placed in the custody of the Iowa Department of Human Services and a hearing will be held within a month to terminate parental rights. After that, the child will likely be adopted, as all of the 17 previous safe haven babies have been.
