The University of Iowa Burn Treatment Center says it is seeing an alarming number of brush fire related deaths and injuries.

The treatment center reports three people died and three others were injured in brush fires between February and April of this year. During the same time period last year there was one death and one injury.

All four deaths in the two-year time span were people ages 75 years and older.

The university says some of the victims were flown in from surrounding states.

Officials warm people to keep a close eye on the dry and windy conditions while burning brush.
