With state senator Jack Hatch running for governor, Democratic candidates are looking to fill his District 17 seat.

Two of the candidates are meeting Tuesday in a forum. Tony Bisignano and Nathan Blake will take questions from a panel.

A third candidate, Ned Chiodo, will not be there because of a scheduling conflict.

The forum is from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church on Bell Avenue. The League of United Latin American Citizens of Iowa and the Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement Action Fund are sponsoring the forum.

Organizers say issues will range from wages to driver’s licenses for immigrants.

Senate District 17 covers the southeastern section of Des Moines.
