Warning sirens signaled the arrival of severe weather Thursday in central Iowa.

People who didn't hear the storm warnings heard the storm itself on their rooftops and decks.

Golf ball-sized hail, or even larger as was seen in Urbandale, came down hard.

Chelsey Gregerson and her neighbors say it only lasted a few minutes.

“We had gotten home maybe ten minutes beforehand and were getting the kids ready for bed and it hit pretty fast," Gregerson said. "And all of a sudden we start hearing 'thump, thump, thump'. I look out the front window and see all this hail just bouncing around in the yard. It looked like it was a miniature golf course out here."

So far, nobody has reported any significant damage in the area.
