There were no local players taken on day one of the NFL draft, but that was expected. Day two was a different story.

Hawkeye tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz got a phone call to start the third round. The Houston Texans grab Fiedorowicz with the first pick in round three, number 65 overall.

At 6’6” and 265-pounds Fiedorowicz is known just as much for his blocking as pass catching.

Last year CJ had 30 catches and six touchdowns for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Just six picks later, Hawkeye linebacker Christian Kirksey got taken off the board by the Cleveland Browns.

Kirksey was projected as a fourth round pick, but instead goes Friday.

Last year the senior linebacker had 98 tackles.
