Horizon Elementary School held a special presentation to talk about Memorial Day but a special guest stole the show.
Army Major John Miller surprised his eight-year-old daughter Emma at her school in Johnston. He has been in Afghanistan for the past nine-and-a-half months.
Emma has gone through three deployments with her dad, so Major Miller wanted to do something special for her.
“She sacrifices a lot as a military child. So it’s important to reward her with everything she does,” Major Miller said.
Major Miller gave the class a flag he flew in a black hawk helicopter in Afghanistan and gave each student an army patch.
