Police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty will be honored Tuesday night in Urbandale, and the public is invited to attend.

The Urbandale Police Department is hosting its annual Peace Officers Memorial Service at 5:30 p.m.

It will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on 75th Street.

Officers and their families will carry flags of all 50 states to honor those who have been killed on the job. In 2013, 105 officers nationwide lost their lives while serving their communities.

Tuesday’s service is free and open to the public.
