SASH ARREST: Ex-Hawk Tased After Scooter Chase

The Oskaloosa Police Department says a former Hawkeye football star was arrested over the weekend after a scooter chase.

Twenty-five-year-old Tyler Sash was arrested early Sunday morning. Police say an officer tried to pullover Sash at 1:27 a.m. in the southeast part of Oskaloosa because he was driving a scooter with no lights on. Sash didn’t pull over and then ditched the scooter, running from police.

When police found Sash hiding behind a tree he initially refused their orders to surrender. Police say he resisted when officers tried to put him in handcuffs and officers tased him and took him into custody.

Sash admitted to having six drinks within an hour but refused to take a field sobriety test. He is charged with public intoxication and interference with official acts.

Sash played three seasons with the Hawkeyes but declared for the NFL draft before his senior year. He was cut by the New York Giants last August.

How about we learn to use more than just auto spell correct when we write stories OK? Thanks!

Nathan the reason why is the arresting officer bleds Black and Gold. The thing I caught was 6 drinks in 1 hour. There might be a proglem there

Six beers in an hour may not be much for someone used to drinking beer…but if six shots/mixed drinks? Oh yea, that is an issue. Why in such a hurry to drink six drinks and leave? Hey “may” of had more going on inside him than the drinks.

He’s 25, just got cut from his job in the NFL and just proved to the world that he is a drug abuser with serious issues, I wouldn’t call that a fast track up the ladder….

until you can say you havent made a stupid mistake dont judge. the only reason this is getting blown out of proportion is because his name is well known. many other people have been brought to jail because of drinking and driving and they dont get fancy news articles written about them so we can comment and judge on

NO it is being reported because he is in the public eye as part of his football career at Uof I. Theres good and bad to living in the public eye. He lucky they did not throw the book at him. Reading the article he could have been chaerged with Felony eluding, DUI, resiting and depending on the altercation assult on a law enforcement officer.
