An Iowa family is in Washington, D.C. Thursday for a ceremony that will honor their loved one, slain police officer Jamie Buenting.
KWWL reports Buenting is one of 286 fallen officers whose names are being added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
A vigil for the fallen officers took place earlier this week. Their names are being added to the memorial during a ceremony Thursday.
Buenting was a 12-year veteran of law enforcement and spent eight years with the Rockwell City Police Department. He was shot and killed in September while trying to serve an arrest warrant for domestic assault.
He was married with two children.
