This time next week, the state track meet starts on the world famous Blue Oval. Drake Stadium will host the nation’s most popular high school meet.
On Thursday in overcast Johnston, it was a final chance for athletes to qualify.
It was cold and rainy but the students pushed on.
In the girls 3,000 meter run, Johnston’s Jordan Kleve defended her home track and took first place. She finished in 10:18.
In the high jump, Drake Relays champ Jared Seay cleared 6’3” to win the regional.
In the boys 4x800m relay, Johnston coasted to a three-second victory.
Next stop, state track.
