The Memorial Day weekend usually kicks off the summer boating season at Lake Panorama. But officials say this weekend will be different thanks to a streak of bad weather.
An EF-2 tornado blew through Lake Panorama a little more than a week ago. No one was seriously injured, but it destroyed several homes and left a mess of the golf course.
Public areas like parks, beaches, and roads should be cleaned up by the holiday weekend. But it`s not just the windy weather that`s holding back the boating season.
“I think it`s the cold weather this year. You know usually they`ve got the swimming area fenced off here and just a few kids out swimming and stuff like that. And this year there`s nobody around. No it`s very, very quiet compared to other years,” visitor Larry Eckhoff said.
The Lake Panorama Association hopes to have everything back to normal by mid-June.
