An iconic vehicle is rolling through the metro this week.
The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile made a few pit stops at Hy-Vee stores in Des Moines and Waukee. The car will be visiting other Hy-Vee stores through Saturday.
The weinermobile has been around since 1936.
“It was first made by Oscar Mayer’s brother, Carol Mayer, and they used to do deliveries with it. And now it’s used as an iconic, fun vehicle,” company ambassador Kate Bennett explained.
In all, there are six wienermobiles that travel the nation.
Each year Oscar Mayer seeks out recent college graduates to drive the vehicle.
