LATE START: Water Parks Wait For Students

It's a perfect day to be at the pool, but finding one that's open won't be easy. Traditionally, area pools and water parks open Memorial Day weekend, some will meet that timeline, but it may be a while before they can adhere to a regular, Monday through Friday schedule. That's because the majority of the people who work at the pools are students, and they're still in school... making up snow days. “It would actually cost us more if we were open, and had poor attendance, because then we`re paying all our staff,” said Nick Lenox of Ankeny Parks and Recreation.

You can expect consistent pool hours within the next two weeks at metro pools. Ankeny's Aquatic Centers will be on a regulars schedule starting this weekend, but will close on Tuesday for the last day of school.
