The Des Moines Buccaneers need a head coach who sticks for a while and wins.
The Bucs think they have the answer in Dave Allison, a familiar face to local hockey fans.
Allison led the Iowa Stars to the playoffs and in 2009 agreed to coach the Bucs. A work visa problem scuttled that plan and Allison headed back to NHL scout.
However, his family stayed in Waukee and he’s happy to join them.
“We’ve been in Des Moines, this will be our 10th year, and it’s just a good time to come back and return home and do something I’m passionate about which is coaching,” Allison told Channel 13.
The Bucs will make the official Allison announcement Friday morning.
Bucs haven’t made the playoffs in seven seasons.
