This weekend 81 golfers compete in the Principal Charity Classic. This is the tournament’s second year at the Wakonda Club and officials say they’ve learned a lot since last year.

This isn’t to say that last year didn’t go well. In fact the tournament was the “Champions Tour Charity of the Year Recipient”.

Last year's Principal Charity Classic also generated the most money, donating more than a million dollars. Officials say they’ll likely raise even more money this year. Since 2007, the tournament has raised more than $5-million.

Officials say none of this would be possible without the community’s support. More than 1,200 people are volunteering this year. Many are returning volunteers.

Organizers say this weekend will be more spectator friendly than last year with more grandstand locations and spots to watch multiple holes.

Fans can park their cars at South Ridge Mall where a bus will shuttle them over to the course. Drivers need to keep in mind Park Avenue is closed and to expect a fair amount of traffic along Fleur Drive.

Tickets are $20. You can buy them online or at the entrance. Veterans and anyone under the age of 15 gets in free. For more information go to:
