Police have released the name of the man found in the Des Moines River downtown.

Police identified the body, spotted by a woman near the Center Street dam Friday afternoon, as Sachin Rayappa.

A wet team recovered the 24-year-old’s body and found no obvious signs of injury or trauma. Police think he had been in the river for several days.

An autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death.

The Des Moines resident was reported missing last Tuesday.
