MOTEL DEATH: Homicide Victim Identified

A Des Moines woman has been charged with first-degree murder after police found the body of a 36-year-old man in a motel room.

They later identified the man as Jerry Brueggeman of Des Moines.

Shortly after 12 p.m. Sunday, police were called to a report of a body at the Royal Motel, located at 3718 Douglas Avenue. Detectives responded to the scene and questioned the woman, Stephanie Renee Moses, 35, who placed the call to police.

During the interview, police said Moses made several statements regarding the incident that were determined to be false through surveillance video footage and witness statements. Moses was charged with first-degree murder and was taken to the Polk County Jail.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine how the victim died.
