PLAYOFF WIN: Pernice wins the PCC

DES MOINES - It took 2 extra holes but Tom Pernice Junior won the Principal Charity Classic on Sunday, holding off Champions Tour rookie Doug Garwood.

Pernice fired a 3-under 69 in the final round to finish at 12-under.  Garwood needed to make a 12 foot birdie on 18 to force a playoff and he did, finishing with a 1-under 71, minus 12 overall.

On the 2nd playoff hole Pernice sank an 8 foot putt for the win and $262,000.

There was a 4-way tie for third with Jay Haas, Mark Calcavecchia, Michael Allen and Bill Glasson.  Glasson had the round of the tournament, firing an 8-under on Sunday.
