DOWNTOWN ARREST: Man Arrested with Knife Near Science Center

Des Moines Police arrested a man Tuesday for threatening people with a knife outside the Science Center of Iowa.

Police responded to the scene, in the 100 block of Fourth Street, at about 10:30 a.m.

According to police, Raymond Griffin, 23, of Des Moines, was found knocking on the door of a nearby apartment building. Earlier Griffin approached a Science Center employee and held a knife to his throat, police said.

Griffin was charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct.

Police said that Science Center visitors were not in any danger.
