Jockey Arrested at Prairie Meadows Racetrack

ALTOONA, Iowa – A jockey has been accused of carrying shock buzzers at Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino.

According to the Des Moines Register, officers arrested Roberto Morales on June 5.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation conducted a search on Morales and three other jockeys.

Authorities found a .25 caliber gun and five buzzers. Those latter devices are used to shock horses into riding faster and are prohibited.

Morales is charged with unlawful possession of prescription drugs and firearms and prohibited activities.
