DES MOINES, Iowa– Des Moines police officers and firefighters are taking time off patrol to head to the ballpark Thursday.

They are teaming up for “Angels in the Outfield.” The program helps children with special needs play baseball while their parents watch from the stands.

Every child bats and scores and all games end in a tie.

They play at the Kiwanis Miracle League Field just west of Principal Park. The first pitch is at 6:00 p.m.
