DES MOINES, Iowa – Nearly one thousand people turned out for the annual Golden Circle Games downtown on a warm and sunny Friday.

The event, held at Water Works Park, saw teams from all over the metro compete in a variety of traditional and unique games including eggs toss, tug of war, hula hooping and wheel barrow races.

The events are designed to provide team building opportunities for the 100-plus businesses that took part.

“It’s just a really loose competition. Everyone’s having a good time. Everyone is dressed up in costumes or matching outfits. Everyone is here to have a good time and build relationships and get to know everyone a little bit better,” event chair Corey Sharp said.

Now in its 30th year, the event first started when four local businesses got together for an afternoon of fun but competition has grown substantially over the years.
