NEVADA, Iowa – The prime strawberry picking season is upon us and the Berry Patch near Nevada is ready.
This year’s season is slightly delayed because of the late spring. The colder weather also means you’ll see slightly smaller strawberries this year.
However, the smaller size hasn’t affected the taste.
“The flavor is excellent, sunshine makes good flavor and we’ve had a nice amount of sunshine,” Judy Henry explained. “I think they’ll be happy with using them for their desserts and jellies and jams, just like always.”
Berry Patch’s strawberries will be available at the downtown farmers’ market on Saturday.
Starting Monday you can also pick your own by visiting their farm just south of Nevada.
