DES MOINES, Iowa – A judge sentenced a Des Moines 17-year-old to up to 50-years in prison Friday for a brutal car-jacking.

Terrance Cheeks was convicted of two counts of second degree robbery last April.

Cheeks was one of three people involved in the carjacking of Mike Wasike last year.

Wasike was pulled from his car, beaten and left for dead just blocks from his Urbandale home.

He suffered severe brain damage and remains at a care facility in Oklahoma.

  • David Twombley

What a tragedy for all concerned. Senseless, stupid and certainly nothing to make fun of, Bob.

  • Pat

Capital punishment is not an option in Iowa for this one or his brilliant cronies but how about retroactive birth control? Same thing for school shooters.

  • Just a mom

Not long enough and his daddy needs to stop defending him. Now he can see how big and tough he really isn’t.

  • Sue

Scary thing is, he’ll be out on ‘good behavior’ before he has served 25% of his sentence. Mr. Wasike and his family got a life sentence! This kid and his friends are a menace to society and should be removed from it for life!
