DES MOINES, Iowa - The work day ended early for soccer fans across the metro Monday.

Bars were packed with fans before the 5 p.m. kickoff of the US team's World Cup opener against Ghana.

Fans didn't have to wait long to celebrate. Clint Dempsey opened the scoring after 29 seconds. John Brooks scored a late winner for the US after Ghana equalized in the 82nd minute.
