DES MOINES, Iowa – The power of Mother Nature was felt early Tuesday morning across the metro and much of the state.
Some Drake University students also felt that power, as did their car.
“We woke up to sirens going off, heard a loud bang and wasn’t really sure what was going on. So we decided it was time for us to get in the basement,” Mark Reiter said. “On our way to the basement we looked out of these back windows of our house.”
They saw a roommate’s car smashed by a fallen limb.
The roommate forgot to grab his glasses on the way to the basement so he thought it was just a broken window at first.
But when the sun came up he learned just how bad it was.
