Memorial Ride Saturday to Honor Slain Rockwell City Officer

ROCKWELL CITY, Iowa — Saturday, Rockwell City will remember an officer killed in the line of duty.

Twelve-year veteran Officer Jamie Buenting was shot and killed during a stand-off last September.

To remember him, the town is holding the first Jamie Buenting Memorial Fun Ride. Participants can choose wheels of any kind to participate. Motorcycles, bikes, even scooters are welcome.

The 144-mile route starts and ends at the Rockwell City Fire Department.

The ride begins at 10:30 Saturday morning. It will take participants past some of Buenting’s favorite places including his home town of Pomeroy.
