Crews Battle Large Fire in Downtown Fort Dodge

FORT DODGE, Iowa – Firefighters from at least five different departments spent Saturday afternoon on the scene of a fire in Fort Dodge.

According to the Fort Dodge Press, shortly after 2 p.m. firefighters responded to the intersection of First Avenue North and 11th Street. The building, a former church that had been converted to a residence, was unoccupied at the time.

Fort Dodge Fire Chief Kent Hulett told The Press that more five additional departments have been called in to assist and that the State Fire Marshal’s Office has been called to investigate. No injuries have been reported.

Chief Hulett said the building was a complete loss.
