PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania – An Olympic gymnast training in Iowa helped organize a world record attempt Monday.
Gabby Douglas and about 500 others descended on a Pittsburgh bridge to do cartwheels.
After several practice rounds, they attempted to break the record for the most cartwheels at one time.
It was one of about 700 events taking place in 160 countries to celebrate the birth of the modern Olympic Games.
The existing record was 482.
Douglas trains at Chow’s Gym in West Des Moines and won two golds at the London Olympic Games.
